Nina Callaghan is a researcher at the Centre for Sustainability Transitions at Stellenbosch University. Her research focusses on relational governance and South Africa’s energy transition. She is passionate about finding ways to navigate the polycrisis our world is in to find a place for thriving.
In her previous position she was Associate Director for the Children’s Radio Foundation, an NGO that partnered with community radio, communities and young people to amplify their voices. She was also a TV journalist at South African broadcaster ENCA for eight years. Nina serves as board chair for the Children’s Radio Foundation, South Africa, is a board member for Open Streets Cape Town and sits on the advisory council of the Mothertongue Project, an arts organization for and by women and youth.
